The objectives of our Environmental Management System (EMS) are simple:
- Be an environmentally responsible neighbor and use processes that do not adversely affect the environment, including developing and improving operations to minimize waste, prevent air, water, and other pollution.
- Conserve natural resources by reducing, reusing, and recycling materials and supplies.
- Ensure the responsible use of energy throughout our business, including conserving energy, improving energy efficiency, and giving preference to renewable over non-renewable energy sources when feasible.
- Provide a safe and healthful workplace and ensure that personnel are properly trained and have appropriate safety and emergency equipment.
- Meet or exceed all applicable environmental legal regulations and other environmental requirements to which ITRenew subscribes.
- Strive to continually improve ITRenew's environmental management system and performance.
- Conduct rigorous audits of ITRenew's compliance with this policy and periodically review the status of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Set an example of leadership in the field of environmental management
International Standard Organization (ISO) 14001, finalized and first issued on Sept. 1, 1996, is the most widely recognized environmental management standard. It is a specification standard, meaning organizations that conform to its requirements can become registered. ISO 14001 was written as a consensus standard with nearly 50 countries participating. Applicable to all types and sizes of organizations, it accommodates diverse geographical, cultural, and social conditions. It can be applied to all parts or any single part of an organization and/or its activities, products, and services. A basic model of the standard is depicted below with five major elements: policy, planning, implementation and operation, checking and corrective action, and management review. These elements interact with each other to form the framework of an integrated, systematic approach to environmental management, resulting in continual improvement of the overall system. |
